Respite home care

Respite care provides temporary relief to families who are faced with extraordinary duties needed to meet the needs of a person with a disability. Respite services are designed to revitalize both the consumer and the family by assisting the consumer and allowing him or her to remain in their home. ERC’s respite care providers furnish support which helps to maintain families, and individuals in their homes, and enhance the personal growth and development of all family members. Additionally, ERC’s workers will work to improve the child’s socioemotional skills, based on goals developed during the assessment period.

Program Goals and Objectives

  • To provide quality respite care that is responsive to the family’s needs and available whenever requested.
  • To provide services to offer the primary care giver the opportunity for self-renewal.
  • To provide care and assistance to the siblings of a child with Intellectual Disability, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Epilepsy, Down Syndrome or IQ under 70
  • To bridge the isolation experienced by families of an individual with developmental disabilities and enable the family to participate as a whole in community activities.
  • To help maintain a healthy marriage by giving a couple the respite care services they need.
